Complex Systems and Sustainability

The idea that we can calculate nature is closely linked to the idea that we can control nature. And what is nature anyways, if not ourselves? Natural systems - of which we are part - reveal phenomena that follow a completely different logic than we are used to from our mechanistic worldview. Rather, phenomena follow the logic of complex systems: they are relational. The quality of our relationships to ourselves, others (humans and non-humans) and the planet then determine what form the system takes.
