We can’t live a sustainable lifestyle
I don’t think we can live a sustainable or regenerative lifestyle. Assuming a perfectly sustainable lifestyle of harmony with all beings is possible - as I did for a very long time - is to be ignorant - as I was for a very long time (and I am sure in many ways still am). It follows the metaphysics of the independent individual who is separable, fragmented, and stands outside culture and situatedness. When I follow this logic, I remain ignorant of my entanglement with the world and thus lose sight of my role in systemwide regeneration, which - in turn - withdrawals.
Does this mean that I should cease trying to live sustainably?
Well, my dear, not do fast.
Instead, it’s more like the paradox of a zen koan
“When both hands are clapped, a sound is produced; listen to the sound of one hand clapping.”
